Abstract

There are 2 species of crayfish in Uzbekistan: the alien turkish crayfish Pontastacus leptodactylus and the aborigenous Kessler crayfish P. kessleri. P. leptodactylus in Uzbekistan lives in water bodies and streams of the entire basin of the river Zarafshan. About 800-1000 kg of crayfish are harvested per month at the Katta-Kurgan reservoir (Samarkand region) during the fishing season.
